Foundation for the Blount County Public Library

About the Foundation

The Blount County Public Library receives funding from Alcoa, Maryville and Blount County government, but receives additional funding from The Friends and The Foundation. The Friends focus their efforts to help meet general operating costs of the Library on an annual basis, while the Foundation focuses its efforts to support capital projects.

Capital projects tend to require significant funding and Blount County’s citizens have answered the call since the Library moved into its new facility in May of 2002. Since that time, supporters of the Foundation have continued to meet critical needs of the library including:

  • Assisting with the construction costs of our current library
  • Purchasing new furniture and equipment
  • Upgrading computer systems
  • Installing window tinting to library windows
  • Acquiring adjacent property

Future projects that will be funded by the Foundation include:

  • Additional computer system upgrades
  • New online catalog
  • Completing construction to lower level of library
  • Funding to create additional parking
